1987 Porsche 911 Carrera Targa
Recent Service, Just Out Of 14 Year Ownership, Desirable G50 Transmission
This 1987 Porsche 911 Carrera Targa is a beautiful example in Grand Prix White over a Burgundy leather interior. This car has been well maintained and kept by its most recent owner, who had the car for the last 14 years. One of the things we really like about the car are that two costly items, the Targa top and the A/C have already been taken care of. The car has been converted to R134a air conditioning and the Targa top was completely replaced with a new unit. It recently received rebuilt calipers all around as well as new hoses and pads. The oil line to the thermostat, a common problem on these, has also been replaced. All work performed was done at one of the most respected Porsche shops in the northeast. According to the option sticker, the car was ordered from the factory in this color with the whale tail and white fuchs wheels (available).
Being a 1987, this car features the desirable G50 transmission, a bulletproof unit that was a vast improvement over the transmission used in the SCs and earlier Carreras. This car runs out and drives extremely well with very good power, smooth shifting and very good overall roadfeel. Good examples of 87-89 G50 Carreras are becoming harder and harder to find. This is a well maintained car with a great look. It is a great entry into the world of early aircooled 911s and can be experienced without breaking the bank. These cars have a reputation for reliability and when properly sorted can go for hundreds of thousands of miles.
