It is a matching numbers car that was purchased new by the current owner's uncle in 1953. The car has a charismatic patina as it was believed to be repainted once in the early 1970s. The car was treated to a $36,000 mechanical restoration by a Jaguar expert about 10 years ago.
The gas tank was reconditioned, steering box rebuilt, gauges were rebuilt, generator rebuilt, a high capacity fan and radiator installed, electronic ignition fitted, new water pump, new fuel pump. new springs and rebuilt shocks, new ball joints, rebuilt carbs, new rear leaf springs, new transmission mounts, among many other things.
The car comes with its complete original assortment of tools, including the large tool pouch, which includes the larger and smaller tool rolls, including an original brake bleed hose in its original canister. This is a solid original, looked-after example that drives extremely well, and would be a good candidate for rallies and events worldwide. Upgraded with stainless steel exhaust and Ron Davis aluminum radiator.
